Hailstorms and heavy rain were experienced in several areas of the UAE on Wednesday afternoon.
The rain brought the temperature down by a few notches.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said in a series of tweet, “Heavy rain was witnessed in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and some areas of Sharjah.”
The Meteorology centre also shared videos of hailstorms in the suburbs of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.
The NCM issued warning, “Precautions should be taken in case of heavy rain over some eastern areas, and advised to stay away fromareas of flash floods and accumulated rain.”
The authorities is UAE have ban on trucks, heavy vehicles and buses on the internal and external roads during fog until the visibility cleared. The Abu Dhabi, Sharjah Police explained that that measure contributed to enhancing traffic safety in order to preserve the public safety.
The police urged drivers of heavy vehicles, trucks and buses to abide by the decision and not drive such vehicles during fog in order to strengthen the preventive measures and to avoid accidents in such weather conditions. It was also stated that the police would slap the violating buses and trucks moving on the roads during the fog time with a fine of Dhs500 and 4 traffic points.
