The Dubai Police issued a fine of Dhs10,000 to a pilot working for an airline for organising a special party for 25 invitees on a yacht without observing public safety requirements, physical distancing rules including and failing to wear masks and follow the precautionary measures, instructions and duties imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
This came after the attendees had posted video clips for the function on social media.
Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations at Dubai Police, said the Dubai Police summoned the pilot accordingly and issued a fine of Dhs10,000 against him pursuant to Decision no.38 for 2020 issued by the UAE Attorney General regarding the violations and penalties for which the Cabinet’s decision no. 17 for 2020 was issued.
Al Jallaf explained that the regulation related to the violations of precautionary measures stipulates under clause 4 that a fine of Dhs10,000 would be imposed on whoever holds gatherings, meetings and private and public parties or gathers in public places, farms or manors.
He added that two of the invitees were fined Dhs5,000 each and the rest of the attendees were also summoned to issue the same fine for all of them.
