A 64-year-old Asian was killed in a run-over accident on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road in Ras Al Khaimah near exit 126 towards Ras Al Khaimah, opposite the headquarters of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme.
The car was driven by a UAE national.
Brigadier General Ahmed Al Summ Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, revealed that the Operations Room of the Ras Al Khaimah Police was alerted about a run-over accident that led to the death of one person at 7pm on Sunday.
The victim was crossing the road from places other than designated for pedestrian crossing, which led to the run-over by a vehicle driven by an Emirati, 27, Al Naqbi added.
The police patrols accompanied by an ambulance moved to the accident location, where the body was sent to hospital.
While, the incident’s file was referred to the competent authorities to complete the legal procedures.
The Naqbi appealed to the community members not to cross the roads except from the places designated for pedestrian crossing and after making sure that the street is free of vehicles in order to preserve their safety.
He further called on the motorists to be vigilant while driving and to abide by the rules and instructions to ensure safety for all.
