His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, congratulated teachers on the occasion of the World Teachers’ Day, stressing that teaching is the most honorable job known to mankind and that a mother is a school because she is the tenderest, noblest and greatest teacher.
Sheikh Mohammed tweeted that the most important job for a father is to be a teacher and that a true leader is a leader only if he is a teacher.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also tweeted: “On World Teachers’ Day, we honor teachers in the UAE and around the world. We are grateful for the dedication, patience and adaptability you have shown particularly this year. Your crucial work has a lasting impact both on your students and on our entire community.”
Meanwhile, His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, underscored the importance of teachers for their role in building generations and arming them with knowledge.
He announced that as many as 30,000 teachers are being trained in the Sharjah Education Academy and that two Arabic language and Arabic calligraphy centres would be opened in Kalba soon, noting that similar centres would be opened in Khor Fakkan, Al-Dhaid and Sharjah City.
Marking the World Teachers’ Day, which coincides on October 5th every year, Sheikh Sultan said in a telephone conversation with Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of Sharjah Media Council, through the Direct Line programme broadcast live on Sharjah Radio and TV: “The role played by teachers is highly appreciated though the focus now is on the teachers who graduated from Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, who can hardly find jobs.
To solve this problem, these teachers are recruited for the many Ahliya schools existing in Sharjah and are paid salaries though the government of Sharjah bears the difference between the salary given by a private school owner to a teacher and the teacher’s salary in the government sector, Sheikh Sultan said, adding that this is done through the Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Emiratisation Project, which was launched on September 6th 2019.
“Because some teachers are not highly qualified, we established the Sharjah Education Academy, which started qualifying teachers at three training, academic and research levels. There, teachers join training courses under the supervision of experts on how to explain lessons and deal with students,” Sheikh Sultan said.
Recently, the Sharjah Education Academy launched various remote training courses through visual communication programmes, he said, adding that 30,000 teachers from inside the UAE joined these courses and would obtain diplomas after completing these courses with 100 practical training hours.
Stressing the need to support teachers, Sheikh Sultan concluded that teaching is not an easy profession but a rewarding one because teachers have a noble mission of building generations. We pray to Allah to grant success to all teachers and look forward to hearing good news about teachers.
