Newborn removing Dubai doctor's mask blows up the Internet

A Dubai-based doctor’s Instagram photo went viral on all social platforms.
Dr Samer Cheaib, specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pregnancy care in Dubai, shared an image of a newborn removing his face mask minutes after birth.
The extraordinary photo received global attention. The Lebanese doctor captioned it on Instagram, “We all want a sign we are going to take off the mask soon ??…”
Gulf Today spoke to Cheaib on his newfound fame and asked about the challenges he faces every day during the coronavirus pandemic.
Cheaib said, “It was challenging like all doctors around the world and taking care of pregnant women and helping them during delivery. No virus can stop it…”
On being asked about the photo Cheaib said, “I felt like there is hope and positivity and I wish that it will be a sign to take off the mask that we all suffered from.”
Cheaib said the mother had a C-section delivery where she bore twins — a girl and boy.
He said, “I pulled out the girl first and then the boy. Surprisingly, the boy tugged at my mask and was trying to pull it off my face.
We all laughed…”
The father of the twins took the photograph.
The photo on Cheaib’s Instagram page garnered over 49,000 likes and thousands of comments. It has become the subject of discussion among news channels and social media users.
India’s Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs, and Civil Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri, also shared the image on his Twitter account.

Puri said, “Dubai-based doctor Samer Cheaib shared this photo of a newborn baby 'trying to remove' his surgical mask.
Fills the heart with hope & joy.”
The caption read, “We all want a sign that we are going to take off the mask soon.”
“Indeed! But till then, let us take all precautions.”

On the other hand, more than 38.64 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,093,384 have died. Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
