Gang of Asians held for stealing coffer from a 'gambling den'

The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced 4 members of an Asian gang to a year in jail to be followed by deportation on charges of stealing a safe from an apartment of a visitor who ran a gambling den in his home.

The gangsters reportedly impersonated security men and took over the safe last July.

The victim reported the incident to the police stating that a safe containing Dhs13,000, phones and two passports were stolen by four people who assaulted him, after impersonating security men.

According to the victim's testimony in investigations, the suspects knocked on the door of the victim’s residence, and when he opened it, they beat him up, tied him and sprayed tear gas on him and then seized the safe.

A Dubai Police witness said the investigation teams found the suspects, as it was found that one of them was a friend of the victim and knew about his illegal activities and gambling.
