The UAE Ministry of Health conducted 143,336 COVID-19 tests in the past 24 hours.
The large-scale examination would help ministry detect coronavirus cases in the country. The ministry also plans to expand the scope of the tests in the coming days.
The tests revealed 1,172 new COVID-19 cases.
The ministry said the infected people are from different nationalities.
The authorities said that 1,460 individuals have recovered from the virus.
The ministry announced the death of 2 people due to complications from COVID-19.
The Health Ministry has expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victim, and prayed for the speedy recovery of patients receiving treatment.
The authorities have urged everyone to adhere to health protocols and social distancing rules in public places.
Last week, Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesperson for the UAE Government, said that UAE’s COVID-19 mortality rate is lowest globally at 0.4%.
Hammadi said, “Between 20 and 27 October, the rate of tests increased to 1% compared to the same period last week, and tests revealed a 12% increase in confirmed cases.”
Hammadi highlighted, “The recovery rate increased by 18%, and mortality rate decreased by 45% compared to last week. The mortality rate is the lowest globally at 0.4%."
