UAE always blessed with joy and achievements, says Sheikh Mohammed

The UAE Ministry of Community Development organised the first virtual mass wedding under the title “Emirati Joy” with the participation of (100) Emirati grooms.

The virtual mass wedding was organised in five locations all over the UAE simultaneously with 20 grooms per ceremony.

The sustainable celebration aims at promoting the experience of mass weddings in the UAE, which proved a success in consolidating national traditions and cultures in the community and contributing to reduce the costs of marriage and build a stable family.

In a message to the grooms, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai said: “I congratulate all Emirati nationals in this mass wedding. I congratulate your families, friends and relatives.

“The UAE is always blessed with joy, achievements and goodness, thank God. Simplicity in weddings deepens secret of marriage blessings. I do hope that there is always simplicity and easiness in these matters.

“This is the will of late Sheikh Zayed – may his soul rest in peace – may God perpetuate goodness, blessings and grace upon you and our honourable nation.”

The virtual mass wedding held under the title "Emirati Joy” followed precautionary measures due to the coronavirus.

The mass wedding included various festive events held remotely, drawing joy and happiness atmosphere among several people all over the UAE reflecting coherence and unity between the wise leadership and the nation in these exceptional circumstances.

The mass wedding for Abu Dhabi nationals was held at the Police Officers Club in Al Ain City.

Dubai grooms’ wedding ceremony took place in Al Bait Metwahid Hall, Al Warqa in Dubai, while Sharjah and Ajman held the ceremony in Al Mwaileh Majlis, Sharjah.

Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain grooms’ wedding ceremony was held at Al Bait Metwahid Hall in Ithin, Ras Al Khaimah.

The wedding of Al Fujairah grooms was held at Al Bustan Hall.

On this occasion, Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister for Community Development, congratulated the young Emirati grooms, confirming the ministry's keenness on implementing the directives of the UAE wise leadership represented by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces and their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the emirates, to follow the approach of their Highnesses in supporting mass weddings all over the UAE and manifest joy and happiness in the nation.

This approach establishes the idea of mass weddings to reduce the financial burden of young people and meet their aspirations of social wellbeing and happiness.

She noted that from 1998 to the current year 2020, more than (194) mass weddings were organised in the UAE and attended by (9,846) people.

This virtual mass wedding is the first of its kind in the region, and the 195th wedding ceremony while the number of beneficiaries of these mass weddings has reached 10,000 people.

100 happy families

Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid said: “About (100) young grooms are establishing today (100) cohesive and happy families to begin a new marital, family and future life with stability and tranquillity. The virtual mass wedding which gathers UAE younger generations in (5) different festive sites all over the UAE, reflects the meaning of unity, cohesion, coherence and happiness and embodies an extended joy for UAE nationals.”

Family Services Package

The Minister for Community Development added: "Today we have a range of smart and e-family services, which achieve happiness and wellbeing for all the members of the community and proactive access to the beneficiaries of the ministry's services of all ages and categories, in order to promote the stability and cohesion of the family and coherence of the community, achieve the cohesion of society as well as the aspirations of young people in building cohesive families.”

She mentioned a number of services concerning the family and young people, such as: marriage grant service, participation in a mass wedding, participation in “Edaad" programme for future spouses, and family counselling services.
