The Dubai Public Prosecution referred to court an Asian charged with stealing 550 medical protective vests from a warehouse.
Details of the case date back to the time when the suspect worked as an assistant warehouse keeper in a public institution where he was responsible for receiving medical materials from the supplying companies and storing them in the warehouse.
On the day of the incident, the suspect received 5 boxes containing protective medical vests, and instead of putting them in the warehouse, he asked the representative working for the institution to deliver them to the house of the suspect’s uncle under the pretext of transferring them to a hospital.
The representative transferred the boxes and the suspect communicated with an Asian woman who owns a medical company to sell protective vests, and told her he had medical vests that he could sell to her at prices lower than the institution's prices.
They both agreed and met where the suspect delivered the vests and received the money.
The second time, the suspect told the woman he had 1,200 protective vests, which he could sell to her for Dhs10 per piece, and she agreed.
When the woman went to the institution where the suspect worked to complete the registration of her company, she met an employee who she told about the purchase that took place between her and the suspect.
The employee informed the manager that the suspect was stealing and selling the institution's medical items.
The manager called the police and a trap was set where the suspect was caught red-handed handing over boxes of medical vests to the woman and receiving the money.
