His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah has excused all publishing houses exhibiting at the ongoing Sharjah International Book Fair from paying rental fees.
The exemption of rental fees for the publishing houses is valued at Dhs6 million.

This decision aims to help in lessening the repercussion the pandemic has had on the economy. It is also in line with Sharjah’s effort to support and promote publishing houses.
Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of Sharjah Book Authority said with this decision, the Ruler of Sharjah hopes to send a message to the whole world that a strong cultural reality and manpower is essential for a stable society.
He added that the Sharjah International Book Fair is the first international exhibition that fully exempts fees for publishers.
