On of the brightest mind on earth Elon Musk said on Friday that he has tested positive for the deadly coronavirus and at the same time testing negative.
The angry Tesla founder questioned the validity of the procedures.
Musk said, “Something extremely bogus is going on. Was tested for Covid four times today. Two tests came back negative, two came back positive. Same machine, same test, same nurse. Rapid antigen test from BD.”
He also tweeted, “What is the general population (no knowledge of symptoms) accuracy of a sars-cov2 PCR test & is it possible to generate a false positive if you simply run enough cycles?
“Would be great to hear from people who know a lot about the PCR testing industry. What’s the approximate false positive rate, all things considered, for cov2 PCR tests?”
Musk told media that I would take more accurate PCR test which must be sent to a lab for analysis.
The rapid antigen tests have gained ground in recent weeks in view of backlogs at laboratories.
In March, Musk appeared to dismiss concerns about the pandemic.
Musk also defied lockdown orders in California to reopen the Tesla assembly plant, daring authorities to arrest him.
Musk's space company SpaceX was set to launch four astronauts to the International Space Station on Saturday, for the first time since a successful crewed test flight in May.
