Dubai shuts down restaurant for violating virus protocols

The Dubai Municipality (DM) has shut down a restaurant located in the Al Refa’a area, for violating preventive measures imposed by the municipality against COVID-19 to combat the pandemic.

Dubai Municipality explained that its inspectors issued warning notices to 24 other institutions, all of which failed to abide by the procedures and controls set by the municipality to limit the spread of the virus.

The municipality stressed that all restaurants in Dubai must abide by the preventive measures in term of the physical distancing of 2 meters in cafés, restaurants or establishments, a distance of two meters between each table and a maximum of five seats for each table.

Dubai Municipality affirmed the necessity to provide clear signs indicating clear physical distancing, and to ensure that visitors sterilise their hands upon arrival, and to use sanitized plastic or disposable and individually wrapped tools "dishes, cups or containers.

It further called for the use of electronic payment, promoting the precautionary procedures and requirements among employees and visitors using various communication methods, and providing training for the service delivery personnel to maintain preventive disinfection.

According to the statistics, the municipal inspectors carried out 178 inspection visits, during which they monitored a compliance rate of 86 per cent in 153 establishments.
