A 35-year-old Asian man was arrested and referred to criminal court for assaulting his roommate under the influence of alcohol.
The assault left the victim with a permanent disability.
The victim testified that on the day of the incident, the defendant was shouting and singing on loud music at around 2:30am under the influence of alcohol.
Defendant was not at all seemed to be bothered about the inconvenience he was causing to other flatmates with his partying at the odd hour.

The victim politely asked the defendant to lower the music and go to sleep.
The polite request infuriated the defendant, who five minutes later, barged into the victim’s room and furiously pulled away victim's blanket and started beating him.
The defendant grabbed the victim from his feet and dragged him on to the floor, then repeatedly punched him on the head.

He then attacked the victim with a sharp object and injured his left eye.
The victim fell down on the floor in a pool of blood, and this is when other flatmates interfered and managed to keep the drunk defendant under control until the arrival of police.
An ambulance also rushed to the scene to transfer the victim to the nearest hospital.
Forensics analysis revealed that victim sustained a 5% permanent disability due to the attack, and needed a recovery period of 20 days or more.
