VIDEO: Sharjah opens mini-garden made with recycled car parts

The Sharjah Municipality announced the completion of the first environmentally friendly mini-garden made from spare parts of light and heavy vehicles of the municipality were recycled and used after they became unusable. The garden is the first of its kind in the Middle East and is located at the Transportation Department building.
It was formed using consumable materials and unusable spare parts, which were recycled and utilised in an optimal way to form a mini garden including all elements whose design formed a beautiful picture with nice contents.
The municipality inaugurated the garden in the presence of Thabet Al Tarifi, director general of the municipality, his assistants and a group of municipality officials.
Al Tarifi stressed that the garden comes as a continuation of the municipality's environmentally friendly projects, through which it seeks to preserve environmental resources, enhance the culture of innovation among its employees, make optimal use of consumed parts and recycle them in an innovative way which enhances the innovative and aesthetic aspect.
Al Tarifi added, "These projects reflect the keenness of the municipality’s employees to think creatively and present distinct ideas which enhance work and provide the best services to the public.
The garden has many specifications which qualify it to be an ideal place for holding municipal meetings and to practise work in a distinct atmosphere far from the routine inside offices," Tarifi added.
Khalid Bin Falah Al Suwaidi, Assistant General Manager of the Customer Service Sector, explained that spare parts of light and heavy vehicles of the municipality were recycled and used after they became unusable.
Al Suwaidi pointed out that the municipality has launched several innovative projects using vehicle spare parts as an environmentally friendly library, converting one of the buses into a VIP bus, and a classic car that has been developed for use in various municipal work fields besides many other projects.
In the same context, Engineer Hamid Al Banna, Director of the Transportation Department, noted that vehicle spare parts were used in the design and preparation of the beautiful garden, which included integrated elements such as wooden seats and an artificial lake containing ornamental fish.
“Fuel tanks were used as filters to clean the water in the lake, the vehicles’ gears were also used to shape lighting and vehicle exhaust was used to form a fountain in the middle of the garden. The flag of the United Arab Emirates has been artfully modelled using recycled material,” added Al Banna.
