UAE conducts 116,396 COVID-19 tests, reports 1,292 new cases

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), on Wednesday reported 1,292 new coronavirus cases in the UAE following the 116,396 tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

Additionally, 890 individuals got discharged after recovering fully from the virus.

Ministry also announced 4 deaths due to COVID-19 complications.

MoHAP continues to expand its scope of testing nationwide with the aid of state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

The UAE has recorded 154,101 coronavirus cases, 145, 537 recoveries and 542 deaths since the outbreak of the virus.

On Tuesday during its regular briefing to media the UAE Government announced the launch of a precautionary and preventive guide covering various activities and national celebrations.

Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, Official Spokesperson of the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority, NCEMA, said that since the announcement of re-opening of land borders between the UAE and Oman, many inquiries were raised about the entry procedures for Omani citizens.

Relevant requirements must be fulfilled before gaining entry into the country, to guarantee the implementation of preventive measures, in line with the highest standards of health and safety for UAE citizens and residents, he added, noting that persons coming from Oman are required to show a negative result on a PCR test conducted within 48 hours of arrival at a land ports.
