Ras Al Khaimah Police rescue injured Asian trekker from mountain

The Ras Al Khaimah search and rescue teams along with the Police Air Wing rescued an Asian in his 30s from the mountains on Thursday.

The man broke his leg while climbing the mountains in the Raala Al-Yaqoubia area.

Colonel Saeed Al Yamahi, head of the Air Wing Department of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, explained that as soon as the information was received at the Ras Al Khaimah Police Operations Room, the search and rescue team rushed to the location.

The team located the injured man within 20 minutes. The person suffered a fracture in his foot while climbing the mountain.

He was immediately treated with first aid at the site and airlifted to Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah.

Colonel Tayyar Al-Yamahi appealed to members of the public, residents of the emirate, visitors, and tourists, to avoid going to the extremely rugged mountainous areas without proper tools and knowhow of the terrain.

Police urged them to practice mountain climbing in indoor plazas and then move to the rugged terrains.

On Nov.4, once again Ras Al Khaimah Police have turned out to be saviours in disguise for those visiting the mountains of the emirate. Only this time the visitors turned out to be Emiratis.

The search and rescue team of the Air Wing Department at the Ras Al Khaimah Police rescued a 5-member Emirati family, who were utterly exhausted during a mountain trip. On very rugged terrain, in Al Ghail area of Wadi Qada, near Wadi Al Baih, the family was spotted by the rescue team who provided them with the necessary aid on the spot.

The team transferred them by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. The father, who reportedly sustained minor injuries, was treated at the hospital.

The Ras Al Khaimah Police confirmed that the rescue team set out on board a helicopter, upon receiving the report from the operation room, to where the Emirati family was located. The rescuers arrived at the site, provided assistance to the family, and transported them to hospital.
