The Sharjah Police have announced a 50% discount on traffic fines in the emirates. The move is based on the decision of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), and coincides with the UAE’s celebrations of the 49th National Day.
The move will come into effect on December 2, 2020, for a period of 49 days, according to Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police.
Al Shamsi added that the police started taking all measures to implement the decision on time. The police indicate that the decision includes all violations committed before Dec.1, 2020, with the exception of the major violations.
The decision also includes cancelling vehicle impoundment and traffic points.
Al Shamsi also affirmed the Sharjah Police’s keenness to support all the steps taken by the Sharjah government to provide all services to residents, based on the comprehensive vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the vision of Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, focusing on alleviating the financial burdens on community members, and providing them with the opportunity to settle down their legal situation.
The police have also urged that motorists must abide by the laws and regulations, keeping in mind that such fines increase financial burden on individuals.
The police also said that repetition of such fines would draw severe punishment.
