The Dubai Public Prosecution referred two Asians, aged 26 and 21, to the criminal court for assaulting a waiter with a knife and causing him a permanent disability in Dubai.
During investigations, the victim testified that he and the defendant had a heated argument after some drops of tea were spilled on the defendant by mistake.
The defendant lost his temper and grabbed the teacup and splashed the remaining tea all over the victim.
The victim got furious and insulted the defendant for his reaction.
At this point the defendant lost his cool and attacked the victim with a kitchen knife, injuring the victim's left arm.
The victim was rushed to the hospital and received medical treatment for four continuous days and sustained a 5% permanent disability.
After a period of time, the victim headed to the cafe to receive medical leave, and as he walked in, the second defendant began to insult him for the previous incident.
The victim stated that he was going to file a police report against him for the verbal assault, but the defendant threatened to cancel his visa and not give his salary if a police report was filed.
Nevertheless, the victim filed a report against the two defendants to claim his rights, and they were both apprehended and prosecuted on assault charges.
