Acting on a tip-off received by the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Sharjah Police General Directorate, a sting operation was carried out to arrest a gang of 9 Asians for smuggling over a million pills of Xanax drugs into the country.
The seized drugs are worth more than Dhs15 million.
Lieutenant Colonel Majid Al Asam, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, revealed that after investigating the tip-off and identifying the gang members, a police team was formed to successfully place the arrest in less than 12 hours.

The gang members confessed to smuggling the drug, in an attempt to store the quantity in different Emirates and sell them to drug users, fortunately, their sinister plan of harming innocent individuals was foiled.

Lt. Col. Al Asam praised the vigilance of Sharjah Police teams in detecting such a crime and successfully apprehending those who seek to promote and sell any kind of drugs; stressing on Sharjah Police’s keenness to maintain the safety of individuals and the country by all means.
