Saudi Traffic Police in Hail succeeded in arresting a reckless motorist for performing dangerous stunts inside residential neighbourhoods.
The police received information from a citizen's tweet that the driver was performing drifting stunts inside the neighbourhood.
The citizen added in his tweet that he was able to monitor the vehicle's data and keep it.
He received a response from the Saudi Traffic Police Twitter account in a private message to obtain the vehicle's information.
In less than 12 hours of obtaining the vehicle’s data, Hail's traffic police could locate the vehicle. The driver was arrested and referred to the authorities. The motorist will face hefty penalties.
The authorities have urged youth and residents to refrain from such dangerous acts and maintain the security and safety in the community.
In November, Saudi Arabia security personnel in Abha arrested a man who drove away after filling petrol at a gas station without paying the money.
Saudi Police seize the motorist’s vehicle.
The driver recklessly drove away even when the filling pipe was in the fuel tank causing it to snap away, putting the lives of workers in danger.
The man also brandished a weapon at the workers, according to security personnel.
The video shared by of the Ministry of Interior showed a person filling the fuel tank. He then drove away without paying the money, displaying some sort of weapon at a worker at the fuel station west of Abha.
The act caused major damage to the station.
The security patrol team tracked down the culprit and arrested him.
The authorities said necessary measures would be taken against him.
The case was transferred to the Public Prosecution.
Saudi authorities have urged members of the public to adhere to laws and regulations.
In February, a video clip of an overspeeding pickup truck crashing on the roadside in Saudi Arabia went viral.
The video showed the truck driver racing on a lark, driving recklessly and putting the lives of others in danger. The driver escaped with injuries.
