The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) decided to reduce the charges of 11 types of medical services provided in all affiliated hospitals and centres so substantially that the reduction exceeded in many of these services 50 per cent of the original charge of the service.
The DHA also set new prices for hundreds of its services.
According to administrative decision No.142 for 2020 approving the charges of some health DHA services, which was issued by Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, DHA Director General, these reductions followed the approval of the Government of Dubai’s Department of Finance.
The tests with reduced charges included administering a drug or a specific substance into the patient’s vein for one hour for diagnosis, treatment or prevention. This service was reduced from Dhs660 to Dhs124, down by 81 per cent of the original charge.
The charge of anesthesia for electroconvulsive therapy was reduced from Dhs510 to Dhs145, down by 71.5 per cent.
The charge of a comprehensive orthodontic service for teenagers was reduced from Dhs8,470 to Dhs7,755, down by 8.5 per cent, while the charge of comprehensive orthodontic treatment for adults was reduced from Dhs11,250 to Dhs7,755, down by 31 per cent of the original charge.
The DHA reduced the charge of anesthesia for lithotripsy from Dhs1,275 to Dhs145, down by 88.6 per cent of the original charge, while the charge of anesthesia for non-surgical imaging or radiotherapy was reduced from Dhs351 to Dhs145, down by 59 per cent and that of anesthesia for interventional treatment from Dhs245 to Dhs145, down by 41 per cent.
The decision also covered the charge of pulmonary perfusion scan, which was reduced from Dhs1,148 to Dhs750, down by 35 per cent.
According to the decision, the charge of anesthesia service for interventional radiotherapy was reduced from Dhs404 to Dhs145, down by 64 per cent of the original charge, while the charge of anesthesia for vaginal delivery was reduced from Dhs1,227 to Dhs145, down by 88 per cent. The charge of anesthesia for a cesarean delivery from Dhs1,403 to Dhs145, down by 90 per cent of the old charge.
