A special needs Indian woman, Masouda Khatoum was all praise for the humanitarian gesture shown by Dubai policewomen, especially by Lieutenant Colonel Jamila Al Zaabi, Director of the Women's prison in Dubai.
Masouda has an 8-year-old son. The police took care of her son.
“Al Zaabi took care of my traffic fines and provided me with an air ticket. I was arrested for begging in the streets because of financial conditions.” Masouda said.
She added, "My husband insisted that I should come to work in the UAE, but due to my conditions, I had to beg inside Naif area.”
The police took Masouda into custody.
She was later sentenced to one month in jail followed by deportation.
She said out that upon her arrival at the women's punitive centre, Lieutenant Colonel Jamila paid her full expenses and bought her an air ticket to return to India.
Masouda thanked Lieutenant Colonel Jamila, who dealt with her and others with all humane gestures.
She said, “I used to hear about the humanitarian values of the Emirati people, but I was really touched that in the Dubai Police when I was there with Lieutenant Colonel Al Zaabi, who brought hope back to me and helped me to get my son back.”
