An 18-year-old GCC national was killed in a traffic accident due to excessive speed, which caused his car to swerve suddenly and collide with another, resulting in serious and moderate injury of 5 others.
Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police, stated that the operations room of Sharjah Police received a tip off on Friday morning, alerting that a collision took place between two vehicles on the Airport Road between intersections 4 and 3.

Instantly, police patrols and national ambulances rushed to the scene. Al Zari said the vehicle which caused the accident was driven by an 18-year-old GCC national, accompanied by two compatriots, 17 and 15, when the car suddenly swerved due to excessive speed, which resulted in its collision with another vehicle with 3 people.
The two companions of the deceased sustained severe and moderate injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle, an Asian, 30, sustained minor injuries, and his companions, an Asian, 37, and an Arab, 47, were moderately injured.
All the injured were transported to Al-Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah.
Al Zari appealed to vehicle drivers to adhere to driving rules, follow traffic signs, adhere to specified speeds and leave sufficient distance, to avoid fatal accidents.
In October, the Sharjah Police have referred an Asian driver to the Public Prosecution, over crashing into the refueling machines of a petrol station in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The driver was reportedly driving recklessly at an excessive speed that led his vehicle swerving out of control and crashing into the petrol station.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, revealed that a report was received at the operations room, at 11:45 pm, stating that a vehicle crashed into a petrol station locating on Al-Ittihad Road.
Instantly, the traffic patrols and national ambulance rushed to scene to find the cause of the accident, Al Shamsi added.
He indicated that the vehicle was being driven by an Asian, in his 20s, who allegedly lost control of the car because of driving at an excessive speed, which caused its sudden swerving and crashing into the refueling machines.
The accident caused serious material damage to the petrol station. Two staffers were injured, Al Shamsi said.
He noted that following interrogation of the driver and completion of the necessary procedures regarding the incident, he was referred to the Public Prosecution to continue the legal procedures.
