Seventeen people were missing on Monday and two were rescued after a Russian fishing boat sank in the Barents Sea, the emergencies ministry said.
The privately-owned boat, called Onega, sank near the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, with authorities becoming aware of the accident at 7.30am (0430 GMT).

Rescue vessels were searching for survivors but only two people had been rescued out of a 19-member crew, the ministry said.
A representative of the emergencies ministry declined immediate comment when reached by AFP.
The Russian-flagged vessel has been in operation since 1979. Authorities said an ice accumulation on the trawler had led to its sinking.
A source told Interfax said crew members had been washed over the trawler's deck during a storm. TASS cited a source as saying the missing crew were feared dead.
