The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said all UAE citizens and residents aged 16 and above who are eligible for vaccination are now included in National Vaccination Programme against COVID-19.
The announcement comes as MoHAP on Sunday expanded coronavirus vaccine eligibility in line with the UAE's proactive policy to ensure the health and safety of all community members.
Previously, the minimum age to get the vaccine in the UAE was 18 years.
The MoHAP has announced that 84,852 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given in the past 24 hours. The total number of doses provided up to today stands at 1,882,778 with a rate of vaccine distribution of 19.04 doses per 100 people.
This is in line with the UAE Health Ministry's plan to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to all members of society and efforts to reach acquired immunity resulting from the vaccination, which will help reduce the number of cases and control the coronavirus.
