Asian duo jailed for smuggling 300g of cannabis into Dubai in shoe package

The Dubai Public Prosecution referred two Asian men to criminal court on drug trafficking charges after they attempted to smuggle cannabis into the country.

The case dates back to last November, when Customs officers suspected a package that came through an express shipping company, and decided that it must go under inspection.

The package was coming from the defendant’s home-country and included clothes and shoes.

Fortunately, the officers used an X-ray machine to know the contents of the box, and discovered that 300g of cannabis were hidden inside the package.

Police waited until the defendants showed up to receive the package, then surrounded them to place the two under arrest.

During investigations, the defendants confessed to attempting to smuggle the drugs for their personal using, and mentioned that they paid Dhs500, thinking they would get away with the crime.
