Asian duo arrested for breaking into villas, stealing items worth Dhs1 million in Dubai

An Asian duo were arrested and referred to criminal court for robbing a villa in Dubai.
They stole gold and diamond jewellery, and amounts of cash of different currencies worth over Dhs1 million from two villas.
The case dates back to June 2015, when a European woman reported the robbery in her villa to police, and claimed that all her valuable items were missing.
The victim stated that she learnt about the robbery from her maid.
Apparently, the defendants had broken into the villa through its back door, and managed to sneak all the way to the victim’s room in order to carry out the robbery.
They cracked open the safe and took all the cash, then laid their hands on gold and diamond jewellery along with valuable watches worth over Dhs400,000.
The defendants were identified and successfully apprehended police and will be prosecuted on robbery charges.
In another robbery incident, the defendants also managed to rob a nearby villa, and also stole all valuable items and cash worth Dhs600,000.
The witness to the second robbery was the maid who woke up with the police sirens.
The maid testified that she was worried if the defendants had gotten inside her residence as well, so she checked around the house to make sure everything was in place.
But unfortunately for her, she found footprints and break-in traces which revealed that the defendants had broken into the villa and robbed all valuable belongings.
Police investigators stated that the two robberies were similar and that the two defendants were the ones who committed both the robberies.
The first defendant was apprehended before the other, and had testified that he got rid of all crime weapons used in the break in by throwing them in the sea.
The jewellery and cash were found hidden inside the defendants apartment, and both villa owners retrieved their stolen belongings thanks to the efforts made by police teams.
