The UAE has administered over 3 million vaccine doses as of Jan.29, the Health Ministry announced on Friday.
The UAE government is likely to achieve the target of vaccinating 50 per cent of the country's population by the first quarter of 2021.
The UAE authorities said, “Three vaccines were registered in the country, beginning with Sinopharm vaccine, Pfizer and most recently the Sputnik vaccine.”
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) said on Twitter, “With a collaborative effort of the health sector and the commitment of the UAE community, we announce today that we have exceeded 3 million (3,006,601) doses since the launch of the national vaccine campaign of COVID-19.
The NCEMA also said, “137,956 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given in the last 24 hours, to reach 3,006,601 as a total number of doses and with a rate of 30.40 doses per 100 people as vaccine distribution.”
Recently, Dr. Farida Al Hosani, the official spokesperson for the UAE health sector said,“Our goal in the next stage is to control the increase in the number of cases by reviewing the precautionary measures applied in establishments and institutions and emphasising the commitment of all members of society to preventive measures.”

Social gatherings and private parties have been the main cause of the surge in coronavirus cases in the UAE.
Last week, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lt Gen Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, said that private parties and meetings are responsible for the rise in COVID-19 cases.
The Police Chief urged everyone to follow the precautionary measures and social distancing guidelines to curb the spread of the virus.
