It took Warrant Officer Yousef Al Habsi, a member of the General Directorate of Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence, over nine continuous hours to rescue eight people trapped in the rugged mountains of Wadi Naqab area.
According to Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, Director of the General Directorate of Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence, Al Habsi’s heroic role began when he was called while on duty to help find the eight people trapped in the rugged area because he was a highly experienced inhabitant of that area.
Al Habsi went to the area where he began the search for those stranded in the mountains from 4pm on Friday till 1am on Saturday, when his strenuous efforts led to tracking down the stranded people.
As it was very dark at the time, Al Habsi had to stay with the stranded people till sunrise, when he started to get them out of the rugged place by ropes and lead them to their vehicles.
There was praise for Al Habsi’s heroic work, which reflects the values and spirit of the members of the General Directorate of Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence, who devote their time and are ready to sacrifice their lives to extend a helping hand to all those in need, save lives and protect property.
