MAID JAILED IN THEFT CASE: The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a 28-year-old African maid to 3 months in prison, to be followed by deportation, besides a fine of Dhs1,350 after she was convicted of stealing a tablet device and clothes of her sponsor.
According to the testimony of the sponsor, the maid worked for her 10 months ago, and since she worked at home, she noticed that some things had disappeared, including a tablet of her child.
Two months ago, the maid reportedly helped the sponsor to search for the tablet but did not find it. The sponsor added she accidentally discovered the maid’s use of the tablet and decided to end her service and send her back to her home country.
While packing her belongings, the sponsor discovered her watch and some of her own clothes in the maid’s bedroom.
