A suicide car bombing rocked the city of Al-Bab, northeast of Aleppo, on Tuesday. Several people were in critical condition and scores were wounded.
An explosive device planted inside a van exploded near the Central roundabout in the city of Al-Bab.
A CCTV video showed a slow moving van is blown into pieces as people run for cover.
This is the fourth explosion that has hit Al-Bab city since the beginning of this month, and no party has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
On Monday, Israel fired several missiles targeting areas near the Syrian capital, Damascus, Syria's state news agency reported. An opposition war-monitoring group said the strikes killed nine Iran-backed fighters. The SANA news agency claimed that Syrian air defenses shot down most of the missiles, which it said were fired from Syria’s Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
On the humanitarian front, a record 12.4 million people in war-torn Syria are struggling to find enough food to eat, the UN food agency has said, in an increase it described as "alarming."
The figure means "60 per cent of the Syrian population are now food insecure," the World Food Programme said, based on results of a nationwide assessment in late 2020.
