Abu Dhabi has seized stash of counterfeits hand sanitisers in a surprise raid on Wednesday.
An inspection team visited the site where the fake disinfectants were made.
The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Abu Dhabi said, “In order to fight off commercial counterfeits across Abu Dhabi, ADDED ran a field inspection campaign with the cooperation of the Abu Dhabi Police, who raided a factory producing counterfeit hand sanitisers bearing the trademark of a global brand and seized all of its contents.”
The ADDED has closed 354 business facilities in Abu Dhabi’s three regions, within Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, which came as enforcement to the directives issued by the competent authorities concerning the application of the preventive and precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
This procedure comes as part of the ongoing inspection campaigns to ensure the compliance with the prescribed precautionary procedures.

The Department stated that 29 business facilities violating the implementation of the preventive and precautionary measures and instructions were closed.
These facilities practise various commercial and service activities across the emirate. In the meanwhile, the Department has closed other 325 facilities in the cities of the emirate (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al Dhafra) due to the occurrence of COVID-19 infection among the workers of such facilities.
On the other hand, the Abu Dhabi Police, in co-operation with the Ajman Police, arrested a gang of 5 Asian people including a woman, who used phone fraud to trap their victims and get their savings and bank balances fraudulently.
A number of mobile phones and SIM cards were seized in their possession.
Brigadier General Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, Director of Criminal Security Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, affirmed that the police would be on the lookout for anyone who seeks to undermine the security of society and seize people's money fraudulently.
The police would also pursue these criminal gangs wherever they are in order to get the deterrent punishment they deserve in accordance with the law, he added.
He thanked Ajman Police for their efforts and co-operation with Abu Dhabi Police, which led to the arrest of the gang.
