African visitor gets 9-month jail for assaulting roommate in Dubai

An African visitor was prosecuted and sentenced to 9 months in jail for brutally assaulting his roommate inside Dubai’s apartment.

He will be deported after serving his sentence.

The incident took place inside an apartment that both the victim and the defendant shared.

The defendant was under the influence of alcohol on the night of the assault, and had gotten into an argument with the victim over using the washroom.

The argument turned into brawl and in a fit of anger defendant grabbed the liquor bottle and smashed it against the victim’s body.

The victim sustained injuries on both his arms, leading to a permanent disability as per what the doctors said.

Snapping out of his anger, the defendant asked another roommate to call the police, then he quietly left the apartment.

He headed to the building’s security guard and waited until he was arrested by police officers.
