Wing Commander Abhinandan – shot down by Pakistan Air Force (PAF), captured and returned to India after around a day and a half of captivity – said he "sees no reason for us to continue with any kind of hostilities.”
The Indian Air Force (IAF) wing commander's statement surfaced in newly released footage, in which he also praises the chivalry of the Pakistan army.

Abhinandan said that he never felt any difference between Pakistan and India and found both countries the same while coming down via parachute. He also hoped for peace between both the neighbouring countries.

“I do not know what needs to be done to bring about peace but I only know that there should be peace. And I see no reason for us to continue with any kind of hostilities. I want that peace [should] be established.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on the occasion of second anniversary of Operation Swift Retort as Surprise Day to pay tribute valiant Shaheens’ for their brave defence of the motherland while retaliating to IAF violation of its sovereign territories on Feb.27, 2019. The celebration ceremony of Surprise Day was held at PAF Headquarters.
Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan said Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be considered as weakness and any misadventure will be responded immediately.
