Asian visitor held for attempting to smuggle 826g of hashish into Dubai

A 25-year-old Asian visitor was arrested and referred to criminal court for attempting to smuggle 826g of hashish into Dubai Airport.

Official records point out that a female customs officer suspected the defendant’s behaviour upon his arrival at the airport and consequently requested him to undergo a luggage search.

As his bag was being searched, the officer noticed the presence of a bizarre-looking object, and he was accordingly asked about the bag’s contents.

The defendant denied the presence of any illegal objects, but as the officer searched the bag, she found a dark piece of what turned out to be hashish.

The seized drugs weighed 826g. The defendant was detained and referred to criminal court on drug charges.
