African gang snatches Dhs970, phone from an Asian at knifepoint in Dubai

A 22-year-old African worker was referred to criminal court along with his runaway accomplices for robbing a man of his phone and Dhs970 in Dubai.

Official records indicate that the Asian victim was walking towards his residence near Hor Al Anz Area, defendants pounced on him the moment he entered a dark lane.

The defendants took out a knife and asked the victim to take out whatever was in his pockets.

The defendant and his accomplices fled the scene with the victim’s wallet containing Dhs970 and his phone.

The victim testified that around 10 minutes from the robbery, a group of men were passing by and he had asked for their help in trying to locate the defendants.

Luckily for the victim, the defendant and one of his accomplices returned back to the robbery place to get a bike that they had left before running away.

This is when the victim managed to capture the defendant with the help of the passers-by and called police.

The defendant was apprehended and prosecuted on robbery charges.
