The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthi group in Yemen said it intercepted six explosive drones fired towards the kingdom on Friday, with the Houthis claiming to have launched attacks into southern Saudi Arabia since dawn.
Parts of the destroyed drones fell and injured a 10-year-old boy and also a man who was driving near the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.
A video showed coalition destroying a Houthi target just before the rebels could launch more attacks in the kingdom.
The media spokesman for the Civil Defense Directorate in Asir region, Captain Muhammad Bin Abdo Al-Sayed, explained that on Friday, the civil defense received a number of reports about shrapnel hitting several areas.
The Civil Defense explained that this caused the injury of a 10-year-old child, who was treated by the Saudi Red Crescent, in addition to the injury of a civilian in his vehicle.
He was transferred to the hospital.
A number of houses were also damaged.
The Houthis have stepped up cross-border drone and missile attacks on Saudi cities recently, mostly targeting the southern part of the country. The coalition says it intercepts most attacks.
