A 60-year-old Indian decided to risk his life by climbing an electric pole to persuade his family to let him marry again.
Subran Singh, a widower from the state of Rajasthan had lost his wife four years ago decided to threaten his family with suicide after family refused to allow him marry again.
Family members did not see it fit to marry a man of his age. As a last resort, he climbed an 11,000V electric pole in Dolpur.
Panicked family members reported the issue to the Electricity Department, which cut the powerline to save his life.
Singh has three sons and two daughters and a number of grandchildren.
However, none of them helped fill the void in his life that led to this step, after he tried to persuade the family several times, but his children were strongly opposed to the idea of remarriage.
Crowds gathered to request the old man to come down safely, but he refused, saying, "Marry me to any woman, I only want a companion in my life.”
The drama continued for some more time before someone finally rescued him and brought him down safely.
