Saudi authorities have arrested a person for causing a serious accident.
The car driver hit a motorcyclist during a rally at midnight on Friday on the bridge at the intersection of King Khalid with the Southern Ring Road. The authorities identified the man in less than 24 hours.
The incident took place in Hail, a city in northwestern Saudi Arabia.
A video clip was circulating on social media, showing a small car colliding with a motorbike driver after the car veered towards him at high speed.
The motorist fled the site, while the bike rider fell off his bike and was severely injured. The unmanned bike was thrown some distance from the accident location.
The security and health authorities reached the site of the accident. The injured person was transferred to King Khalid Hospital in Hail. He is under observation.
The Saudi Traffic authorities tweeted that the type and specifications of the car were identified within 24 hours. The perpetrator was identified and was taken into custody.
The police said all legal measures would be taken against the person and the case was transferred to the Public Prosecution.
