Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), has issued administrative resolutions on the restructuring of the boards of directors of the health associations of the Health Promotion Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
The step aims to improve the performance of the associations to help them achieve their strategic objectives, which include enhancing the health awareness among the Sharjah community, adopting the best practices that secure a decent and healthy life for the individuals, and enhancing the preventive services across the country.
Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi said: “The health and wellbeing of individuals and society remain our top priority and are the core of the policies and programmes of our community organisations. Therefore, we are committed to constantly developing these programmes so that they produce tangible results and initiatives, bringing us closer to everyone in society."

Expressing her trust in the competence of the national cadres in their tasks ahead, Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi added: "The process of development will never stop. And with the help of creative and fresh minds we will do whatever it takes to cement the quality of life of citizens and residents in the Emirate of Sharjah, under the patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah."
Insightful vision
Lauding the commitment of Sheikha Jawaher to prioritise the health and wellbeing of the individuals, Dr. Khawla Al Mulla, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, stressed that the decision reflects the insightful and forward-looking vision of Her Highness to achieve sustainable health development, in line with the strategic vision of the Emirate of Sharjah and the wise directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan who pays the utmost attention to health and safety of the individuals.
“This is evident in the programmes and initiatives that are being launched to enhance public health, improve the performance of the relevant health institutions, and provide them the necessary support to shoulder their responsibilities,” she noted, stressing that the decision is a significant step forward towards getting the associations publicised after fulfilling the requirements of the Ministry of Community Development.
“We, at the SCFA, are very eager to translate the visions and decisions of Sheikha Jawaher to innovation-based strategies and programmes with clear objectives that fulfil the needs of the society,” added Al Mulla.
Iman Rashid Saif, Director of Health Promotion Department (HPD), said the decision is a qualitative addition to the Department’s efforts and a catalyst for launching meaningful initiatives in the service of the health and safety of community members, stressing the HPD’s commitment to enhancing health awareness and optimising health behaviour of citizens and residents.
“Over the past years, we have managed to make a paradigm shift in the health behaviour of community members through the provision of medical examinations and health consultations, thanks to the unlimited support of Sheikha Jawaher and the efforts of our volunteers and partners,” she added, underlining the Department’s determination to achieve Sharjah’s vision to become a child- and adolescent-friendly city.
Great honour
The heads and members of the boards of directors of the associations extended their sincere thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to Sheikha Jawaher for her trust, expressing their happiness with this great honour and pledging their utmost efforts to enhance public health and assume their duties to the fullest extent.
The decisions provide for the restructuring of the Board of Directors of the Diabetes Friends Association, headed by Khawla Taher Al-Hajj; the Board of Directors of the Friends of Arthritis Patients Society, headed by Wahida Abdul Aziz; the Board of Directors of the Breastfeeding Friends Association, headed by Eng. Khawla Abdulaziz Al-Numan; and the Board of Directors of the Friends of Kidney Patients Association, headed by Maryam Bin Dukheen.
According to the decisions, the membership term is four years commencing from the first meeting. The boards will continue to conduct their work upon the end of their term until the formation of the new boards, provided the members are named by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher. This Resolution shall come into force from the date of its issuance.
