Fog blanketed some areas of the UAE on Sunday morning, and lasted for eight hours.
It started at midnight and continued until 8.00 on Sunday morning.
Some areas were struck by active and strong northwesterly winds, sometimes at a speed of 50 kilometres per hour, stirring dust, which resulted in a decrease in the horizontal visibility in some inland and coastal areas, especially to the west, due to a shallow air depression with high air in the upper atmosphere.
Fog began to form over Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al Hisn in Sharjah, and over Al Bidya in Fujairah.
The lowest temperature in the country, 13.5°C, was recorded at 6.30am on Sunday at Rukna, in Al Ain.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) expected that the weather on Monday would be dusty and partly cloudy at times, with another drop in temperatures, but it will be humid at night and on Tuesday morning, with the possibility of the formation of light fog in some of the eastern inland areas.
Winds are expected to be northwesterly, moderate to active and strong on the sea, at a speed ranging between 20 to 35, up to 55 kilometre per hour.
The sea is expected to be turbulent to sometimes very turbulent in the Arabian Gulf, but light to moderate in the Sea of Oman.
The centre expected that Tuesday’s weather would be generally clear, partly cloudy at times and humid on Wednesday night and morning, with the opportunity for the formation of fog or light fog in some coastal and inland areas.
Tuesday’s winds are expected to be northwesterly, moderate to brisk at times at the sea, at a speed ranging between 15 to 25, up to 40 kilometres per hour. The sea will be turbulent on Tuesday, becoming moderate in the evening in the Arabian Gulf, and light in the Sea of Oman.
Earlier, the National Centre of Meteorology forecast temperature would tend to increase during the daytime and decrease significantly westward.
