African man gets one year jail for robbing two Asians of Dhs2,500 in Dubai

The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced a 26-year-old African man to a year in jail, followed by deportation for assaulting and mugging two Asians with the help of other runaway accomplices in Dubai.

Official records point out that the defendant and his accomplices had intercepted the victims' way in the middle of the night, and brutally beat each of them until they gave up their money.

The defendants managed to steal the first victim’s wallet with Dhs1,500 inside, as well as Dhs1,000 and phone from the second victim.

When fleeing away after their robbery, the defendant was the only one who the victims managed to grab and deliver to police.

A robbery case was filed against the African defendant, and he was prosecuted to be jailed for a year.
