European manager, accomplice jailed for forging Dubai driving licence

The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced a manager and a visitor, both European nationals, to 6 months imprisonment followed by deportation for forging a driving licence in Dubai.

Last November, one of the defendants was stopped by a police patrol and was asked to show his driving licence.

This is when the defendant confidently showed the forged driving licence which actually belonged to the second defendant, thinking that the officer would not notice.

The vigilant office suspected that it was forged and caught the defendant, who instantly confessed of his crime.

During investigations the defendant testified that he had asked the second defendant to use different information and help him forge the licence to be used to drive around the Emirates.

The purpose of forging the driving licence was that the defendant was only a visitor to the country and does not has an international license to drive around.

They were both apprehended and prosecuted on forgery charges and received a 6 months jail-term.
