A doctor saved the life of a Palestinian girl who stopped breathing after suffering a respiratory tract blockage and was on the verge of dying.
The blockage is known as upper airway obstruction (UAO).
The girl was brought to the clinic in an unconscious state in Jenin.
The panicky parents did not know what to do.
Palestinian local media reported that the incident took place in the town of Qabatiya, near the city of Jenin.
The parents explained that the girl was rescued after being taken to a doctor named Mujahid Nazzal late in the night.
The doctor, Mujahid, narrated that on that day he was exhausted and was unable to go home so he decided to stay in the clinic.
Mujahid said, “I slept on one of the beds for a while, but was awakened by the screams of people, I ran outside…”
He added that he did not have the ability to comprehend the matter at the time, while the father shouted, "She died of suffocation...” pointing towards the little girl.
The mother kept crying and was unable to speak at all.
The doctor narrated the scene, explaining that the father kept repeating, "The girl is not moving, what happened to her…?"
The girl is believed to be 1 year 4 months old.
Mujahid said, "I carried her upside-down on my right hand and hit her twice on the back... God willing, the child started crying."
Mujahid said, "The family was in shock…”
The doctor described the father’s condition after his daughter’s recovery.
The father was bowing down and even prostrated to thank God and the doctor.
He adds that he responded to the girl’s father, and said, “By God, Ayesha is still alive... she is crying."
The doctor stressed that “these moments and situations in life cannot be forgotten... moments in which you feel the greatness of the soul, you feel and live the instinct of parenting and motherhood, you see how the heart of the mother and the father can break with the child not responding.”
Mujahid said, “I feel blessed for saving a soul by the grace of God. ”
A clip of the incident has been doing the rounds on social media and people have praised the doctor for his effort.
