A Saudi student in the Australian city of Adelaide rescued his 94-year-old neighbour from a fire that broke out in his house.
Noah Al-Harbi was taking rest after a busy day at the university.
He was woken up by the screams of women outside the house.
Al-Harbi told media, “As soon as I came out of my house, I saw thick smoke billowing from my elderly neighbour’s house. Without wasting a minute I went to his house and tried to open the main door.
"But it was locked, so I broke into the house through the window and opened the door to allow another neighbour to come in and join me in the rescue operation.”
The Saudi national said, “We could not find him anywhere in the hall…”
The old man was lying unconscious further inside the house.
“I picked him up and brought him outside the house.
“The firefighters and ambulances arrived at the scene,” Al-Harbi said.
Paramedics treated the elderly man at the site and he was transferred to the hospital.
Al-Harbi said he did not realise that he sustained injuries to his hand.
Al-Harbi visited his elderly neighbour in the hospital and checked on his health, while the Australian in turn offered his thanks and gratitude to the student for his noble humanitarian work.
Al-Harbi revealed that despite the arrival of a number of OB vans to cover the fire incident and bystanders who gathered outside, no one came forward to help the elderly Australian.
