The Friends of Diabetes Association, one of the health-promoting organisations under the Health Promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, donated Dhs200,000 to the Diabetes Clinic of the Emirates Red Crescent.
Khawla Al-Haj, Head of the Friends for Diabetes Association, presented the donation to Sultan Khalaf Al Mazrouei, General Manager at Red Crescent Medical Centre in Sharjah via the visual communication technology, in the presence of Dr. Ilham Al-Amiri, Vice-President of the Association, Dr. Badria Mohammed Al Balushi, Technical Director of the Emirates Red Crescent Medical Center, and a number of the Association employees and volunteers.
Khawla Al-Haj said the initiative is part of the Association’s commitment to enhancing community support, improving the lifestyle of diabetic patients, and creating a supportive environment for them. This is in line with the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, and the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah aimed at developing the health system to achieve a disease-free and happy society.
“We at the Friends of Diabetes Association are always keen to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to diabetic patients in Sharjah in cooperation with the health authorities and institutions. We are also committed to launching awareness initiatives and programmes to raise heath awareness of diabetes, provide the necessary support to patients, mitigate their suffering, and contribute to their treatment to help them pursue their journey to recovery, thus enhancing Sharjah’s status as a model to be emulated in caring for the health of citizens and residents,” added Al-Haj.
Sultan Khalaf Al Mazrouei thanked the Association for the generous initiative and lauded its relentless efforts in organising numerous activities and programmes to enhance health awareness about diabetes.
The meeting discussed strengthening mutual cooperation between the two sides in the voluntary field to serve diabetes patients by offering them the necessary support and providing the Diabetes Clinic of the Red Crescent with the important medications and medical devices.
This was followed by a visit by Khawla Al-Haj and Dr. Ilham Al-Amiri to the Red Crescent Medical Center, where they were briefed on the health services provided.
