Asian on trial for trying to smuggle 640g of heroin through Dubai Airport

The Dubai Public Prosecution referred an Asian visitor to criminal court for attempting to smuggle 640g of heroin through Dubai Airport.

The case dates back to last September, when a customs officer at the Airport suspected defendant and asked him to undergo a bag search.

Nothing was found inside the defendant’s bags, but when he was asked to undergo a body scanner, a quantity of an unknown substance was seen inside his body.

Official records reveal that he was transferred to the concerned authorities to identify the substance, which was found to be 70 capsules of heroin weighing 640g.

The defendant admitted to smuggling the heroin in order to deliver it to a drug-trafficker inside the country.

He was jailed and prosecuted to receive maximum legal punishment.
