Husband jailed, fined Dhs170,000 for brutally torturing wife in Ajman

The Ajman Criminal Court sentenced an Arab husband to one year in jail and fined him Dhs170,000 for brutally torturing and confining his wife inside a room, which amounts to kidnapping.

The defendant will be deported after serving his sentence.

According to the official records, the defendant tortured his wife by burning parts of her body through a fork connected to an electric charger cable, mutilating her internal organs.

The defendant did so after he discovered that his wife had a relationship with another person whom she was communicating with through WhatsApp.

The defendant also kept the victim inside a room and prevented her from getting out of it.

According to the testimony of the victim and witnesses, the defendant shaved her hair and eyebrows and subjected her to various forms of torture, which included hitting her with an iron wire and urinating on her.

A report was received by the police that the victim was locked in a room in the house. After searching, the police found the wife inside the locked room with traces of torture in different parts of her body. The defendant was arrested accordingly.
