The UAE government said that more than 72.03% of total eligible group got vaccinated who are people over age of 16 years.
The authorities also announced that 79.03% of the elderly aged 60 years and over got vaccinated.
During the weekly briefing on virus situation in the UAE, authorities said that citizens and residents could choose from the various vaccines.
Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Sputnik vaccines are provided at approved centres across the UAE.
“According to a study on the effectiveness of vaccination in the country, a significant decrease in the rate of infection with COVID-19 was found after receiving the second dose of the vaccine,” authorities said.
Study also showed that unvaccinated people are more likely to have serious complications from this disease.
According to this study, all must initiate to get vaccine to avoid infection with COVID-19 and its complications.
Moreover, the effectiveness of vaccination in preventing people from having to go to hospital is 93%, while the effectiveness of vaccination in reducing the need for intensive care is 95%.
