The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) said on Tuesday that expanding the scope of vaccination to include 12-15 age group would open the door for vaccinating a large number of citizens and residents in the country.
During the weekly briefing on virus situation in the UAE the NCEMA said that vaccinating this group will help vaccinate the largest segment of society, thus contributing to reaching acquired immunity.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention has approved emergency use of the COVID-19 (Pfizer-Biontech) vaccine for the age group between 12 and 15.

“Child vaccination is a fundamental issue, as it will relieve the burden on parents whose children are still pursuing remote learning,” official said.
“Therefore, we call upon parents to take the initiative to vaccinate their children, in order to ensure their health and safety.”
This was based on the results of clinical studies, the strict evaluation for emergency use permit, and the local evaluation in accordance with approved regulations.
“This is an important step for national efforts to combat the COVID-19 virus to protect this age group, confirming the UAE's proactive approach and attention to the health and safety of all members of society,” official said.
